Untitled, as of now..

You said that you heard colors that day
As you fished my shoelace from Jamaica’s mud
My hair screamed sunlight, and spoke of daises,
Words that carried me to a kingdom beneath the sea.
Your eyes whispered to me in waves, their
Current enhancing my appreciation of silence
My sundress was light dough, my fingers the
Knots of an anchored ship’s rope

As the mud turned to sand and the night
Welcomed blackness, I heard your voice
You said, sand grains between your fingertips,
“Listen to the hues and paint your life with sounds.”
I curtsied as the ocean watched, and my feet
Sang your words as I danced for the sand sharks
That slept beneath the earth’s hollow crust
And tolerated the subtle vibrations of my tapping feet

You said, “This is everything,” pebbled water
Within your palm, “This is your world, mermaid.”
My Captain, Where have you disappeared to?
I often dream of those speaking daises, curling
Through my hair as I danced for those sea creatures
Beneath the lighthouse’s lemon expression.
That day you watched me live from a distance.
Yes, that day I was alive.

(this poem is untitled...by it is something that is written for my father.....I've tried a bunch of different titles but none of them never fit! So I don't know as of now...I'm always looking for input/comments!)

Timid Violins

Silence always wins
Like calculating sins
Candle flames extinguished,
The alter water vicious
May tame our thoughts
With eyes of lost beings

Obtain similar vindication
Destroy this concentration
Distinguishing their leader
Through liquid, crimson meter
Tracing revenge from our lips
To the flick of our wrists
And all is lost.

The beginning

I've created this blog because I'm interested in sharing my thoughts, words, and written ideas with those who are interested in reading. The name of this blog is "nocturnal" because I am almost always, sleepless. The importance of this aspect of my life is that while the rest of the world is usually sleeping, I am constantly awake...thinking, writing, and trying to figure out this world as it is. I believe that my inability to sleep is not a disease of the mind, but a gift; an oppurtunity to spend as much time as I possibly can awake, listening, breathing...but not just breathing...living with intensity and vibrance. That is who I am...a mind that never rests.
